QIS2012 - QISMET's universal standard published

QIS2012 - The Standard for Health Management Programmes and Interventions is the new Standard developed by QISMET which will be universally applicable and therefore offers providers of newer programmes the opportunity to apply for certification

What is QISMET?

QISMET is the independent body created in 2008 as a result of the shared recognition of self management and self care provider organisations (statutory, voluntary and third sector alike) that a benchmark for quality assurance is essential to secure the quality and consistency of service provision across England.

QISMET’s overall aim is to ensure the development of comparable high quality self management and self care support services across the land, resulting in a plurality of trusted providers.

QISMET aims in detail

QISMET has been set up as an independent and values-driven organisation that will:

  • Develop and manage standards and certification processes for a range of self management education and training services
  • Support self-management education and training providers to build capacity and expertise for continuous improvement
  • Provide network based information and support services
  • Promote the involvement of people living with long-term conditions, professionals and organisations, in the development and implementation of selfmanagement education and training
  • Develop a Quality Mark Certification Scheme for self-management education and training provider agencies
  • Increase the number of organisations and professionals interested and involved in supporting people with long-term conditions to self-manage, by providing independent information and advice about the latest developments in the field of self-management education and training.
