Following the publication of the QISMET Diabetes Self Management Education (DSME) last month, we are now able to invite providers of both pediatric and adult diabetes education to apply for certification.
The decision to learn new ways to cope with living with a long term health problem can be a big deal for many people. But anyone recommended to attend a self management or patient education programme run by a QISMET certificated provider has immediate reassurance that they will be ‘in good hands’. They can be sure that the course programme will be well designed and efficiently organised.
Most importantly participants attending a programme can have the confidence that the people leading the programme will have successfully completed the appropriate training and will have their progress regularly monitored to ensure that they maintain the requisite skills.
Such tangible reassurance will allay fears and enable participants to get the most out of the programme.
QISMET has just published the Diabetes Self Management Education (DSME) Quality Standard. Henry Bartlett, who lives with type 2 diabetes was a member of the DSME Standard Project Team and kindly agreed to write a foreword for the Standard document. In his foreword Henry explains just why high quality self management education is so important to anyone living with a long term condition. You can read Henry's forweword by clicking on DSME Quality Standard and going to page 4 of the document.
