www.selfmanagement.co.uk is a comprehensive resource for the self-management community.

Here you will find resources, self-management news, information and advice about all aspects of self-management of long term health conditions.

At the heart of www.selfmanagement.co.uk is The National Register of Self-Management (NRSM), a searchable database of tutors, assessors, trainers and lead trainers who are trained and accredited to deliver Expert Patient Programmes.

The NRSM will provide PCTs and other commissioning bodies with a way of both finding tutors to deliver courses and checking their accreditation.  Everyone on the register will be accredited or in the process of accreditation. It is important that everyone who is involved in delivering Self-Management courses in England is included on the register as this is the way that PCTs will be able to ensure that participants are only offered courses run by fully accredited tutors.

Self Management Tutors will be able to use the Register as a way of increasing their opportunities to deliver courses, perhaps through PCTs outside their region, everyone on the register will receive our regular newsletter Self-Management Today  and have access to downloadable, printable versions of course materials.

Are you an EPP lead in an organisation looking for tutors, or would you like to check the current accreditation status of a self management tutor, assessor or lead trainer?

Organisations will be able to search the register to find suitably qualified and experienced tutors and assessors to deliver courses and confirm their accreditation status.

Background to the National Register:

The Department of Health (DH) asked EPP CIC to provide a number of services to Primary Care Trusts to ensure the best possible outcome for self-management in England, with the ultimate aim of ensuring that all people with long term conditions have access to EPP courses, with the provision of 100,000 places by 2012.

In order to meet its responsibilities, EPP CIC agreed to set up a centre of excellence for self-management. This includes a National Register of accredited tutors, trainers and assessors, quality control checks on course materials and manuals, the distribution of those materials; and regular audits across the NHS to evaluate the courses.
